Meet our Summer Intern Sid

Tell us a little bit about your background. (Where did you grow up? What were you like as a child? Fondest childhood memory?)

I grew up in what is affectionately referred to as the “Gem City” aka Dayton Ohio.  I think I must have been an annoying child due to my affinity for always asking too many questions… and I was also mostly covered in dirt at any given time.

One of my fondest childhood memories was waking up on my birthday to discover a new sleeping jack russel terrier puppy by my side.

What is your educational background?

I started off in the pursuit of a degree in Biotechnology and Biological Sciences with a concentration in Pharmacogenomics, after several years I decided to go back to school to pursue a Graphic Design degree with the hopes of integrating both fields into my work. I am currently interested in the Biomimicry PHD program offered by The University of Akron.

Tell us about yourself. Where did you grow up? What were you like?

I grew up in a suburb of Dayton called Riverside.  As a youth I was a rambunctious and incurable prankster.

What about college?

I started off at Wright State University and Sinclair Community College. For Graphic Design I currently attend The University of Akron.

Three words to describe you:

Determined, Focused, and Anxious.

Favorite Social Media:

What was your first impression of 427 Design?

An eclectic mix of weird and wonderful artistic people that produce some of the best work in the Akron area.

What do you love most about being an intern for 427 Design?

Everyone is very kind and helpful if you have any design concerns or questions. They all have areas of expertise that make for an extremely well rounded firm.  Also, the snack game is on point.

Favorite word?

Least favorite word?

“Whatever” or the phrase “It is what it is”

What sound do you love?

An inappropriately timed slide whistle.

What sound do you hate?

Screaming children

What is your favorite curse word?

“AHH Horse Shit!”

What inspires you, and why?

Experimental underground animation is something I’ve always enjoyed as it offers a look into topics often unexplored or overlooked by major animation studios.

What is on your “Bucket List”?

What is something that no one would ever believe to be true about you?

My age (or the fact that I have two webbed toes on each foot)

What is a major life dream you hope to accomplish?

To develop new advancements in Augmented and Virtual Reality using design and human-brain interfacing.

What’s your guilty pleasure?

Do you have any pet peeves?

What turns you on? / What turns you off?

Meaningful conversation. Apathy and Complacence.

What profession, other than your own, would you like to attempt? / What profession would you not like to do?

If I didn’t decide to pursue design or biology, I would have liked to have been an engineer. The worst profession that I could think of would a be meat cleaner at a slaughter house.

If I won a million dollars…..

I would invest in my own business.

What inspired me to do what I do…

The love of art and illustration.

Something that really baffles me…

Hatred and Intolerance.

If I could have a super power it would be…
